Hwang Chi-woong, a sincere Bae Jae-go, transforms into a leading guard

Ahead of the new season, many middle and high school teams are in the midst of strengthening their strength through the Stove League held in each region.

High school boys and girls are conducting practice games that combine winter training in Gyeongju and Jeju Island in North Gyeongsang Province, and high school girls are checking the skills they have honed throughout the winter in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province.

This season, with the first competition of the season scheduled in March in Haenam, Jeollanam-do, in the jump ball, we met the players who are expected to be active on behalf of each school in the south high school this season.

The player to be introduced this time is Baejae High School guard Hwang Chi-woong (177cm, G).

Hwang Chi-woong played 22 games in 5 competitions last year, averaging 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.5 steals.

When coach Lim Jae-hyeon, who laid the foundation for the rebound of Bae Jae-high, left for Changwon LG coach, coach Lee Sang-yoon, who boasts more experience, took over at Bae Jae-high.

Hwang Chi-woong learned about half of his three years of high school from coach Lim Jae-hyeon and the other half from coach Sang-yoon Lee. Coach Lim Jae-hyun had a long career as a coach in a professional club, so he taught a lot of things that could be used in a professional game, looking further ahead than right away. Coach Lee Sang-yoon served as a coach for a long time not only in men’s and women’s professional basketball, but also on the college stage. Hwang Chi-woong can learn the strengths of these two coaches.

Hwang Chi-woong, whom I met during winter training in Seogwipo, Jeju-do, said, “Winter training is more difficult than freshman and sophomore years. When he plays practice games, he has to look good to the university coach, so he pays attention and concentrates more on the game,” he said. “The intensity of training is okay, but the schedule is tight. He is very tired,” he said, telling how he spends his winter training.

Bae Jae-go is currently holding a practice game by looking for a training ground for various university teams. Recently, he faced Chung-Ang University in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sungkyunkwan University in Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, and Konkuk University and Myongji University in Jeju-do. At the end of January, he plans to go down to Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, where Kyunghee University is located. Even if it is a three-way match with some high schools, it is a series of practice games throughout the morning and afternoon.

Regarding the two coaches, Hwang Chi-woong said, “When Teacher Lim Jae-hyun was there, the school focused on tactical training and running (winter training). Teacher Lee Sang-yoon said, “On the one hand, it’s good because I do winter training centered on practice games, but on the other hand, my body is tired.” Among them, it helped me a lot by letting me know how to give a pass to the outskirts after reading and breaking through. Teacher Lee Sang-yoon said, “I can show my skills in college by playing a lot of practice games, and my performance improves.”

Hwang Chi-woong, who was evaluated as a player with good shooting ability at the time of entering Baejae High School, said, “I was good at shooting, but I am still good. When he trained with teacher Lim Jae-hyeon, he said that he could not survive without a shot, and he practiced shooting a lot at night. It is not a standing throw, but it is better to practice throwing while moving or dribbling and throwing right away, so it gets better, and it comes out a lot during the game,” he said. “Lee Sang-yoon also emphasizes shooting. Both of you are similar. They both make me throw a lot, so they both help me.” 토토사이트

Seo Ji-woo, a junior like Hwang Chi-woong, said that coach Lee Sang-yoon gives him more shooting practice during night training.

Coach Lee Sang-yoon highly appreciates Hwang Chi-woong’s sincerity, and expects that he will take on the role of leading guard starting this year, unlike when he played as a shooting guard.

Hwang Chi-woong also said, “In the second year, a senior brother read and passed the pass, but now in the third year, I have to look at number 1 (point guard). If I focused on offense in my sophomore year, I want to even attack while saving the team in my junior year.”

The first tournament of 2023, the Spring National Men’s and Women’s Middle School Basketball Federation, is scheduled to open in mid-March, so there is less than two months left to prepare.

Hwang Chi-woong said, “I’ve been doing well so far, but the important thing is not to get injured. I want to achieve good results from the Spring League match to the end by preparing well so that the players do not get injured while talking a lot with each other.”
