The 2nd Jinju Mayor’s Cup 3×3 Basketball Tournament will be held.
The Jinju City Basketball Association will hold the 2nd Jinju Mayor’s Cup 3×3 Basketball Tournament at Jinju Living Gymnasium on the 16th. A total of 36 teams, including 12 teams in the U18 division and 24 teams in the men’s open division, will participate in this competition and engage in heated competition.
Last August, the Jinju City Basketball Association, which once again promoted the 3×3 culture in Jinju by holding the KXO 3×3 Jinju Tour following last year, prepared another 3×3 festival for basketball enthusiasts in the Jinju and Gyeongnam regions. 안전놀이터
This competition, hosted and sponsored by Jinju City and the Jinju City Sports Council, is a result of the efforts of the executives and staff of the Jinju City Basketball Association. Currently, in a situation where Jinju City itself could not guarantee the hosting of this tournament due to many events scheduled for October, the executives and staff of the Jinju City Basketball Association worked hard to safely host the tournament, and fortunately, this tournament was able to be held normally.
Jinju City Basketball Association executives and staff, who have acquired know-how in hosting and operating 3×3 competitions through hosting the KXO 3×3 Jinju Tour, plan to successfully host this competition and bring joy to basketball enthusiasts in Jinju and Gyeongnam regions.
Won Hyo-won, executive director of the Jinju City Basketball Association, said, “It was a burden to hold a 3×3 tournament right after the KXO 3×3 Jinju Tour ended. In particular, there were many big events in Jinju in October, so it was not easy to host this tournament. But it was so difficult. “Many people showed great interest in the competition, and I wanted to let basketball enthusiasts in the Jinju and Gyeongnam regions feel the excitement of 3×3 once again before the weather gets colder,” he said, explaining the reason for holding this competition.
He said, “Unlike KXO, this competition was prepared as a 3×3 sports competition for pure amateurs. As a result, there were concerns about the participating teams, but perhaps our association’s efforts were reflected, and more teams than expected expressed their intention to participate.” “Through this competition, I want to show that 3×3 competitions for recreational sports players have the potential to develop,” he said, adding that he will not only attract existing 3×3 competitions such as KXO, but will also strive to develop 3×3 competitions for recreational basketball enthusiasts.
Executive Director Won Hyo-won said he would like nothing more if the hard work of the Jinju City Basketball Association, which is constantly working to develop Jinju into a basketball city, leads to the development of Jinju’s basketball.
Executive Director Won said, “In the case of Jinju City, there is no elite basketball team, so we have developed mainly in sports basketball. These days, sports basketball is not what it used to be, but Jinju City will develop both 3×3 and 5-on-5 based on sports basketball. We will do our best to do this. Under the goal of developing basketball in Jinju, we will continue to challenge ourselves to become the No. 1 city in both sports basketball and 3×3 basketball. Our Jinju City Basketball Association is planning to attract KXO next year as well, and we are planning to host a KXO for sports basketball players. “As we are also working to host a national 5-on-5 basketball tournament, I would like to ask for your continued interest,” he said, adding that he is continuously working to develop basketball in Jinju City.
